Joe Wade - 1963
Bio & Picture from 40th Reunion

After graduation from Hickman High School in 1963, I attended the University of Missouri for two years prior to going to the Army.  I entered the service of Uncle Sam in March 1966, Went to Vietnam in September 1966.  Spent one year in Vietnam and was released from tthe Army in March 1968.  After the Army, I returned to Columbia Missouri, went to work for State Farm Insurance in the Data Processing Department.  I was able to work at night and continue my education during the day on a part time basis.  I graduated from Columbia College in 1974 with a degree in business.  I got married in 1971 to Nancy Fisher who grew up near Centralia, MO and graduated from the Centralia High School in 1965.  Nancy and I had two children, Pat who is now 32 and Krista who is now 27.  Pat works for American Airlines in St. Louis and Krista is a Nurse at the Columbia Regional Hospital.  Pat has not married, Krista is married with two children.

I have continued my employment with State Farm holding several different positions.  For the past 20 years, I have worked in the training department, most of which was involved in the training of agents in the Missouri Region.  At present, I am responsible for both the agent training, and employee training as assistant manager for the Central Zone.  State Farm is going through lots of reorganization pains at the present time, and I have elected to retire after 36 years at the end of April, 2004.  Nancy has worked for Stephens College here in Columbia for the past 25 years, and she will retire at the end of the school year at Stephens at about the same time that I do.  We look forward to traveling throughout the United States and enjoying our Grandchildren.
