John McBaine - 2003-09-22

I attended West Blvd. Elementary with close friend Alan Fugit and many who went on to graduate from Hickman High.  My family relocated to Michigan when I was 12 and I finished Jr. High and High school in Michigan.  But my roots are in Columbia and I'll always be a Missouri boy.

I went to work for General Motors in 1963 and worked my entire 37 year career in Flint, Michigan with GM.  I received an Associate of Science degree from Mott Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Detroit College of Business.  My GM career was in Human Resources with assignments in Suggestions;  Employment;  Industrial Safety;  Labor Relations;  Workers Compensation;  and Salaried Personnel Administration.  These assignments were at the Buick Motor Division and North American Car Groups.

I retired in November of 1999 as Sr. Administrator Human Resources with responsibility for executive compensation, recruiting, student programs, policy and EEO/AAP at General Motors Service Parts Operations.

Upon retirement, we relocated to one of our beach condos in Indian Shores, Florida and resided in one of them for two years.  We then sold one of the condos and bought a house last year ten minutes from the beach.  The plan (the best of all worlds for us) is to go back and forth between the house and beach condo on a regular basis while I try to stay busy with golf and softball.

I have attached a photo of my family with myself on the left, sons Chris (22) and Craig (18), wife Carole and daughter Kelly (20, kneeling), taken at one of our favorite spots on the Gulf of Mexico.  I also have a daughter Marci (36) and son John (34) who reside in Michigan.
