Pam Harris Biddle - 2003-08-13

I was graduated from the Univ. of MO at Columbia with a Masters in Library
Science and English.  Have served as a media specialist/librarian since
graduation in all grade levels (which includes elementary through university!).

Have also been a cataloger for the Cincinnati Public Library System and at
one point was a branch librarian in a suburb of Cincinnati.

I am currently head media specialist in Carroll, Ohio.

My husband and I have one daughter, Megan, who was graduated from
Kenyon College in May of 2003 and will be teaching kindergarten on a Navajo
reservation just outside Gallup, New Mexico as part of the Teach For America program!

My husband Jim is the Director of Planned Giving for Capital University, Columbus, Ohio and does a great deal of traveling across the U.S. visiting graduates of Capital.

Who knows...I may be able to drop in on some of the classmates in the years to come!

Greetings Fellow Classmates!!

My goodness, I simply cannot believe that we are going to be celebrating our 50th high school reunion and I bet I am not alone in this over whelming feeling!

After  attending Jefferson Junior High and my sophomore year at Hickman, I moved to Boonville and was graduated from Boonville High School.  Upon graduation, I attended the University of Missouri, received my B.S. in English Education and my master’s degree in Library and Informational Science.  While at Mizzou, I served as a dormitory personnel assistant, assistant head resident, and my graduate year, head resident of Wolpers Hall.  I was very fortunate to have received the Missouri State Library Association Scholarship which provided the monetary resources for my master’s degree.

Upon graduating from MU, I moved to Cincinnati, OH and served as a media specialist/ librarian in a number of public schools (K-12), reference librarian at the University of Cincinnati, and a cataloger for the Cincinnati Public Library system.

Jim and I were married in Cincinnati in 1979.  His practice of law took us to Missouri, to Indiana, and a return to Ohio where he was appointed Director of Planned Giving at Capital University.   Our daughter Megan was born in 1981.  She and her husband Michael have three children, Elijah, 8; Coko, 6; and Jude, 4.   Our daughter and family live in Gallup, New Mexico; however, there is some talk of a possible move for them to Taos this summer.

I retired two years ago after serving as a media specialist/librarian for 43 years (Yes, telling kids of all ages to stop talking and get busy!)  My husband is also retired and we find that we are busier now then when we worked outside our home!  Our church and volunteering activities head our list of things to do.  In addition, we enjoy visiting historical sites (especially Civil War battle fields), researching our family’s history and trying to organize our family pictures, and reading!  Jim has been transferring old LP’s to CD’s, and doing lots of sorting for our future move to Columbia or possibly, Albuquerque, NM.  Jim also stays active in Civil War Roundtable and volunteering at the Ohio Historical Society.  I have enjoyed learning to play the mountain dulcimer, knitting and sewing for the grandchildren!  I feel old when I admit that we also have  enjoyed completing a few jigsaw puzzles!

We have driven thousands of miles to visit our family as well as friends and historical sites  In fact, we will be on our way to New Mexico following our time at the HHS reunion in October!  Our most unique vacation was spent on a schooner in celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary.   For one week, we sailed along the coast of Maine on the “Mary Day” never losing sight of land!

I look forward to our 50th high school reunion and reuniting with the members of the

Hickman High School Class of 1963!

STORY ABOUT DAVE HOLSINGER AND MARY ANN

Hi!  This is a photo taken when Dave and Mary Anne (can't remember just how she spells her name!)?) were dating that summer long, long ago!  Mary Anne and I became friends our freshmen year at Mizzou when we both lived on the 2nd floor of Johnston Hall.  When summer was upon us, we decided to rent an apartment together as we were both going to work on campus and not return to our respective hometowns for that summer.  I am not sure which one of us located our apartment, but after moving in, I noticed that DAVE HOLSINGER lived right next door!  Amazing!  How lucky could two young chicks get!  We knew there was only one of Dave; however, Dave had LOTS AND LOTS OF FRIENDS who were generally shooting baskets with him in his driveway (rather like Mary Anne and my side yard!).

It wasn't long before I introduced myself to Dave as a one-time Kewpie and then introduced Dave to Mary Anne and the rest is history, so they say!  Since I worked all night at the Univ. of Missouri Medical Center, I was not on hand to chaperone or even know how often the two were in each other's company!  I do recall one double date I shared with them to the St. Louis Zoo where we enjoyed not only the animals, but a picnic lunch prepared by Mary Anne and me.
