"September 2002, Kewpie of the Month"

Mike Weir, Class of 1973

Mike will be one of 13 first-year NFL officials this fall, joining the elite group of league officials. NFL teams are limited to 53 players after final roster cuts, putting the number of active players in the league close to 1,700.

Wearing the stripes is nothing new for Weir. After graduating from Hickman High School, Weir earned his license to officiate youth football. While studying at the University of Missouri, youth football led to high school football, which led to small-college football. Five years later, the Big Eight Conference hired the 28-year-old Weir. He spent 12 years with the league and six more with the Big 12.
