Charles Delaine
"Charlie" Halter, 66, of Kennett passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at
his home. Mr.
Halter, born May 17, 1946 in Carryville, Ark., is the son of the late Johnny
Halter and Virginia Mae Diggs Halter. He married Betty Lou Powell Halter on
October 24, 1969 in Kennett.
He was a route salesman for Wonder Bread, retiring
after 34 years of service. He was awarded membership in the Wonder Bread No.
1 Club for outstanding sales, an honor achieved by few individuals.
Mr. Halter was
raised in the Carryville and Nimmons, Ark., areas, having attended school in
Carryville and graduated from Piggott High School, class of 1964.
He is survived by his
wife, Betty Halter, of Kennett; two daughters, Robbie Mode, and husband
Victor, of Kennett, and Deloris Johnson, and husband Marty, of Kennett; two
grandsons, William Charles "Will" Johnson, and Nathan Powell "Nate" Mode; a
special little girl, Lexi; one brother, Bill Halter and wife, Betty of
Carryville; three sisters, Deloris Shaw, of Memphis, Tenn., Sharon
Littlejohn of Piggott, Ark., and Tammy Parks of Piggott. Mr. Halter is also
survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by
his parents.
Visitation was held Sunday, October 7, 2012, between the hours of 6 p.m.,
and 8 p.m., at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett. Funeral Services
were held Monday, October 8, 2012, at 2 p.m., at McDaniel Funeral Home in
Kennett, with Mr. James Powell officiating. Burial followed at the Piggott
Cemetery in Piggott, Ark.
