Answers to Charley's Questionnaire for 50th Reunion

What is your origin; why, when and how did you wound up in Columbia and
where did you come from if you were not born in Columbia?
Was born and raised in Columbia.
2) What did you do
immediately after you left high school in 1963 and where did you go if
you left Columbia?
Joined the navy but was discharged before going on
active duty due to back problems. Went to computer school in Kansas
City. Graduated and got job at the University of Missouri for the next
ten years. 3)
Where did you get your education (other than
HHS) and what is your profession or how did you acquire your occupation
and what was or is it?
Worked as a computer programmer for 23 years. Bought
Jim’s Bike and Key Shop in 1992 and have worked here since.
4) Are you still working
and if so what are you doing?
Yes(see above)
5) Are you retired and what
are you doing or what have you done since you retired? How long have you
been retired?
No but my wife retired from U of Mo in 2011 after 40 +
years as a registered nurse.
6) Are you married? Who are
you married to? Who are you divorced from? How did you meet your spouse
or partner; where and when? How long have you been married? Or how many
times have you been married and/or divorced?
Married to Colleen Murrin in 1966, Met her at the
University of Missouri in 1964.
7) How many children do you
have? When was your first child born? When was your last child born? How
many grandchildren do you have and when was the oldest and the youngest
one born?
Have 2 children. Cynthia Renee born in 1969, and Darron Arthur born in
1975. Cyndi has 2 children, Miriam Leigh, born in 1995, she will be a
senior at Hickman as we celebrate our 50th, and Joshua Michael born
in1998, he will be a freshman at Hickman next year. Played football at
West this year. Darron has one daughter Heather born in 2000 and will be
in 8th grade next year.
8) What countries have you
spent time in other than on business? What countries have you lived in
outside the US?
None
9) What's on your 'Bucket
List' and what have you done and haven't done so far?
Would like to travel more, but really have no “bucket
List’. Want to see my grandchildren grow old.
10) Are you a veteran and
if so where and when did you serve our country?
Not a veteran but like I said above, joined Navy out
of high school. 11)
What is the best memory you have from Hickman
High School? What is your worst memory from HHS?
Loved to go to football and
basketball games(didn’t miss many). The 1962 state championship was
great. Was there for all the games.
12) What was your favorite
place to go after school or on weekends in Columbia when attending
Hickman?
Probably driving up and down the Business Loop.
13) Who was your favorite
teacher at Hickman? Who would you like to see the most from the Hickman
faculty and why?
Mrs Moreau, My art teacher.
14) What person from our
class have you stayed in closest contact with since you left Hickman
other than your wife or husband?
Jack Palmer, Dave Griggs are customers of our
business as they both have their own businesses.

16) Tell me something that you
have told one of your children or grandchildren that was something you
learned or did at Hickman?
I have told my grand kids to get involved in activities
at Hickman and to enjoy the experience of high school.
17) What are the earliest
memories you have of places, people or things in Columbia?
Greatest town in the country, I Love it here.
18) What was your biggest
accomplishment while at Hickman High School and what has been your
biggest accomplishment since you
graduated from Hickman until
now? I
graduated, that’s my biggest accomplishment, but I failed to give it my
all. After graduation I raised 2 great kids and I’m really proud of
them. 19)
What do you think classmates will remember the
most about you when they see you at the 50th reunion? I really
don’t think anyone will remember me because I really wasn’t that
imvolved.

Hickman High School have an effect on your life and how. Coach
Roark and Coach Mcloud.
