Update for 2009 and 2012

Carl Scott - Class of 1963

After I graduated from Hickman in 1963, I attended the MU School of Nursing until 1967
when I transferred to the St. Louis City Hospital School of Nursing. 1968 was a big year.
I had surgery to repair a junior high school track back injury, I got married, graduated from
nursing school, passed my Registered Nurse license exam, and started studying at the
Southwest Missouri School of Anesthesia for Nurse Anesthetist in Springfield, MO.
In 1970, I graduated and took my national exam to become a Certified Registered Nurse
Anesthetist (CRNA). I served in the Navy Nurse Corps from 1970 until 1972 and had a
baby girl in 1971.  In 1972, I moved to Chillicothe, OH. where I was in the practice of
anesthesia at a regional medical center. I was divorced in 1987 and married my present wife
Joan in 1988 (who had graduated from an Ohio high school in 1963). This enlarged my family
by two stepsons, two stepdaughters, and two grandchildren. We now have added two more
grandchildren. Since 1997 we have lived in Wyoming and now in Colorado. Joan and I are
building our own house on a forty-acre ranch in the mountains of south central Colorado
where we enjoy hiking and cross country skiing. We hope to have Arabian horses this
summer to go along with our new white German Shepherd dog. I am still practicing
anesthesia on part-time bases providing relief service to hospitals in several western states.

Update August 24, 2009 and September 22, 2012

In 2007 we needed a change out of the cold and snow of Colorado
so we moved to Chapin, SC which is 15 miles outside of Columbia, SC.
I accepted a position as Chief CRNA (anesthetist) at a free standing surgicenter.
We plan to stay here until I retire. We moved to Eustis, FL (40 miles northwest of Orlando)in 2010 and retired February 2012.
