ROBERT G. SHIELDS (BOB) 2003-07-07
Bob
is a consultant in the Chicago office of Spencer Stuart and a leader of
the firm’s Energy Utilities Specialty Practice. He brings more than
20 years of utility industry and professional services experience to the
executive search profession. His areas of search expertise range
from strategic planning, marketing, human resources, finance and customer
service to operations, research and development, maintenance and engineering/technical
support. He has placed a wide variety of executives for industry
energy companies and consultants. Bob also has completed searches
in several industries other than utilities including: engineering
and construction services, integrated oil companies, gas pipelines, consumer
packaged goods (in both manufacturing and retail), and management consulting.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Bob spent 11 years as a partner of Towers Perrin’s energy consulting practice and its predecessor firm, Cresap, McCormick and Paget. He also spent six years with a large architect-engineering firm in several positions, including project management and business development.
Before embarking on his business career, Bob served 12 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He is a retired commander from the nuclear submarine service, where he supervised the maintenance and operation on three designs of shipboard nuclear reactor plants.
Bob is a graduate of the University
of Kansas with a B.S. in engineering (with highest distinction) and is
a registered professional engineer. He also holds an M.B.A. from
the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
