Karl III's wedding in 1996

Greetings fellow classmates and thank you to Charley Blackmore for organizing our 4Oth class reunion. It seems like only yesterday but so much has taken place since our graduation in 1963.

After graduation from LHS. I did what was expected of me, and attended college at Northeast Missouri State in Kirksville, Missouri. It only took one year for me to realize that that was not for me, and it only took Uncle Sam a very short time to realize I was available. I did my required time in Vietnam, of which I am both thankful for the opportunity, and proud to have served my country.

In 1969, I met and married my wife, Kristine (Tina) Swenson. We have six children and six grandchildren of whom we are very proud. Our oldest, Karl III, is the father of Elise and Kellen, Kim’s son is William, Karla’s son is named Alex, Ken’s daughter is Tayler, and Kelly’s daughter is Emily. Our youngest child is Katie, and she is twelve years old. I have been a very busy man, as you have probably already guessed!!!

In addition to marriage, 1969 was the beginning of my business, Midwest Veneer Company. My son Karl and myself buy logs and lumber throughout the country and ship to customers in Germany, Italy, Korea, China and Japan. My wife, Tina, is also involved in the business as the office manager. It has been an interesting business and I have especially enjoyed working with customers in the international markets.

I live on a farm in Louisiana, Missouri, and plan to stay here for the rest of my life. I encourage anyone returning to Louisiana, to look me up for a visit.

Sincerely,
Karl Dewey
