Marjorie Joyce Holifield, 70, of Pollard, Ark., passed away May 14, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 24, 1946, in Piggott, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Weldon Green and Dessie Marie (Haywood) Green.

She was united in marriage to Curtis Holifield on October 17, 1964, and to this union three children were born.

Margie served many meals to people in the Piggott community, working for over 40 years as a waitress. She started working for Nettie Jaggers at Nettie's Cafe when she was 15 years old. Later she began working alongside her mother, Marie Green, at Southside Cafe and together they were famous around the community for their delicious home-cooked food. She also worked for several years at the Texaco Mini Mart in Piggott.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Holifield of Pollard; three children, Joyce Benson and husband Richard of Rector, Ark., Neil Holifield and David Holifield and wife Mary of Holland, Mo.; one granddaughter, Tana Benson; a sister, Kay Gilbee of St. Francis, Ark., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Loran Johnson officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery, in Piggott. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, of Piggott, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
