Lucy Fang - Mason Morowitz Hickman Kewpie Class of 2009
Congratulations Lucy & Mason, on being selected to receive the “The Charley Blackmore’s Class of ’63 Scholarship.” This as you probably already know is the first time it has been given and I hope it will continue to repeat perpetually if we can raise enough money. The scholarship was made possible by 61 individuals of the 309 members of the Class of 1963 that I have been able to keep track of since 1963.
My name is Charley Blackmore I graduated in the Class of 1963 and am the sole proprietor and webmaster of www.kewpie.net. I have a request to ask of you and hope you will be able to help me. Hopefully you input which I can publish on www.kewpie.net will create more interest in my scholarship and encourage others to make donations or encourage those who have given to make additional donations. My dream is to establish as many as 6 more scholarships like the one you just received.
I know this is the busiest of times for you but if you could email me a brief biography, some pictures of yourself and a story about your future plans, you will make me very happy! Then as things progress your keeping in touch with me, through www.kewpie.net to keep the “Kewpie Spirit” growing, would make me extremely happy too.
On behalf of those 61 Kewpies of the Class of ‘63 who made this possible, who can be seen by going to http://www.kewpie.net/1963.html and clicking on “The Charley Blackmore’s Class of ’63 Scholarship”, I wish you success and happiness in all that you are about to pursue now and for your entire future. I am very proud of being a “Kewpie” and very proud of you for being the “1st Kewpie” to receive this scholarship!
I look forward to hearing from you as often as you have time to call, email or come by to visit. Establishing a long term relationship with you is my dream and I would be honored for you, if you are available next year at this time, to join me in presenting this scholarship to someone like you next year!
With Kewpish Regard, Charley

HI!
So I'm currently at Amherst College, which is a top liberal arts college in western Massachusetts. I don't have any pictures with me on file that I could easily send, but I can tell you about my future plans!
I was born in China and grew up in Columbia, MO since the 2nd grade and transfered to hickman from the rockbridge district (because the kewpies are better).
I plan on majoring in biology here at Amherst and being pre-med. My dream is to go to medical school and become a surgeon, hopefully an ear, nose and throat surgeon.

Charley presenting scholarship to Bridget Tobin @ Annual Awards Ceremony Monday, May 24, 2010 Cyrus Tague was not at the ceremony because he was at his Eagle Scout ceremony! He is the student who has been the Kewpie Mascot for the last three years.
Thank you very much for awarding me with the Charley Blackmore Class of '63 Scholarship. I am very honored and appreciative to the members of the Class of 1963 for this gift. I have always cherished my times at Hickman from being a section leader in the Kewpie Marching Band to being secretary of the Student Government. I feel the Kewpie Spirit in me most, however when I am backstage at a Hickman theater production or at an assembly waiting to sing the Kewpie fight song for the audience.
I will be attending Ithaca College this fall in Ithaca, New York. I plan to study a variety of things including theater and biology. My interests range vary widely as you can tell, but I feel my experience in college will narrow my interests quickly. I am very glad that I have this scholarship to allow me to pursue my dreams of a bright future.
I have also attached some pictures of me in shows and at Hickman. Thank you so much again.
Sincerely, Bridget Tobin
