I’m so thankful that the reason for the Christmas season is Jesus. "For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.... These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6. I am also thankful that He came into the world as prophesied 2,700 years ago by Isaiah, but I am especially thankful that He died on the cross to
make it possible for all who believe to have everlasting life. "Don’t be troubled. You trust God, now trust in Me. There are many rooms in my Father’s home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly." John 14:1, 2.
As most of you know, the reason for my gratitude to Jesus is that my wonderful husband, Gerry, died September 7 of stomach cancer that spread to his skull.
Solomon said that there is a time to be born and a time to die. Twelve days after Gerry passed away, our second granddaughter, Anna Jane Peck, was born to Adina and Aaron. She joins her two year old sister, Alyssa, into a busy, happy family in St. Paul, MN.
Another source of comfort is that Brian resigned his ministry in IL in April to join us in Seattle to lend support to both of us during Gerry’s illness and to me now. He plans to obtain a ministry position or attend graduate school.
Brian and I will be flying to Adina’s for Christmas. We have not seen Anna and Alyssa since a couple of weeks after Anna was born, so we are excited to see them again.
Many of you prayed for Gerry and for me during his illness. Thank you. Your prayers and God’s provision sustained us. I wish all of you joy and peace in your hearts during the coming year.
